How to Join
Pack 98 is open to all boys in 1st through 5th grades. Boys may join the Pack in any of these grades and at any time of the year. The youngest scouts, Tiger Scouts, may join as soon as the kindergarten school year is finished. Pack 98 Info and Registration night is September 20, 2012, 7PM at First United Methodist Church. Or, you can contact theCubmaster anytime for info or to join. Our Pack Brochure includes a lot of information about our Pack. Print it out to share with friends that might want to join Cub Scouts!
We are families that live mostly in Fort Collins. Our Scouts attend Heritage, Laurel, Liberty, Riffenburgh, Rivendell, TPAAK, home schooled and several other schools. Any boy can attend any Pack, but you should check the Unit Locator to see if your school has its own Pack.
The yearly dues for Pack 98 are about $40.00. That includes dues for the national organization, and a subscription to Boys’ Life, a monthly magazine for Scouts. You may also be asked by your Den leader to contribute a small amount for craft supplies. Our fundraising activity is selling premium quality popcorn products in October. Boys who participate in popcorn sales can attend summer Scout camp at reduced cost or no cost, depending on the camp they attend.
Our Pack is about 50 boys organized by Dens. Each Den has 5 to 10 boys of the same grade level. Your son will be assigned to a Den (8 boys or so), with kids from his school whenever possible. You and your Den will decide when and where you will meet every week. Our Pack meets the Third Thursday of every month from September through May at the First United Methodist Church in Fort Collins. The Pack Meeting is a fun hour full of activities where your son will receive his awards. Our Dens meet on the First, Second, Fourth, and Fifth Thursdays at various locations. Check out the Pack Activities page for info on the fun activities we have throughout the year!
Uniforms help to build a sense of community and discipline among the boys. The uniform items we require are the shirt and the neckerchief. Optional pieces like hats, belts and trousers are also available. Blue jeans or other trousers may be worn, but they should be clean and in good repair. Baggy, torn, or low-hanging pants or shorts are not acceptable parts of the Scout Uniform. Caps other than the uniform cap should be left at home. The Pack has a small collection of used shirts available. You may buy uniforms and other supplies at Scout stores in Loveland, Greeley and Boulder.
