How to Join

Pack 98 is a family scouting unit and is open to all youth (boys and girls) in kindergarten through 5th grades. Youth may join the Pack in any of these grades and at any time of the year. The youngest scouts, Lions, may join as soon as the kindergarten school year starts. Our annual Registration Night is in August, but you can contact the Cubmaster anytime for info or to join. Our Pack 98 Brochure includes a lot of information about our Pack. Print it out to share with friends that might want to join Cub Scouts!

We are families that live mostly in Fort Collins. Our Scouts attend Shepardson, Liberty, Dunn, Riffenburgh, Rivendell, home schooled and several other schools. Youth can attend any Pack.  Please check the Unit Locator to see if your school has its own Pack and to find a Pack that meets your family’s needs and schedules.

The yearly dues for Pack 98 are about $75, which covers the dues for the national organization and a subscription to Boys’ Life, a monthly magazine for Scouts. You may also be asked by your Den leader to contribute a small amount for craft supplies. Our primary fundraising activity is selling premium quality popcorn products in the Fall. Scouts who participate in popcorn sales can attend summer Cub Scout camp at reduced cost or no cost, depending on the camp they attend.

Our Pack is about 70 scouts organized by Dens. Each Den has 5 to 10 scouts of the same gender and same grade. Your son or daughter will be assigned to a Den with kids from his or her school whenever possible. You and your Den will decide when and where you will meet every week. Our Pack generally meets the Third Thursday of every month from August through May at First United Methodist Church in Fort Collins. The Pack Meeting is a fun hour full of activities where scouts will receive their awards. Our Dens meet on the First, Second, and Fourth Thursdays at various locations. Check out our Pack Calendar for a list of the fun activities we have throughout the year!

Uniforms help to build a sense of community and discipline among scouts. The uniform items we require are the rank specific field uniform shirt (blue or tan, and must be worn tucked in) and the rank-appropriate neckerchief and corresponding neckerchief slide. Optional pieces like hats, belts and trousers are also available. Blue jeans or other trousers may be worn, but they should be clean and in good repair. Baggy, torn, or low-hanging shorts or pants are not acceptable parts of the Cub Scout Uniform. Caps other than the uniform cap should be left at home. You may buy uniforms and other supplies at the Boy Scout Store at the Loveland Outlet Mall.
